November 2015

The transplant process begins, starting with 6 days of high dosage chemo to kill Matt's existing blood cells and his immune system (a very painful process).  The new stem cells are then transplanted intravenously.  We're in the hospital for a month where we enjoy a Thanksgiving Day meal.  It's our first Thanksgiving together in the U.S.  We come to terms with the fact that we won't be able to go back to our home or jobs in New Zealand for quite some time, and we face the financial realities of our situation.  We start a GoFundMe campaign to try to raise money for our continuing expenses and receive an overwhelming amount of love and support from around the world.  We're filled with a revived sense of hope and strength, and we know we'll get through this.
